Gingerich Family Sugarbush: A Sweet Middlefield Tradition

Three Generations of Maple Syrup Making

Enjoy a sweet journey through the Gingerich Family Sugarbush in Middlefield, Ohio, where three generations of the Gingerich family have worked together to turn fresh maple sap into delicious, pure maple syrup.

The family’s story began in 1952, when Erwin Gingerich Sr. purchased 126 acres and began tapping maple trees. Today, Erwin III and his brother Marvin continue that family tradition, combining generations of knowledge with modern maple syrup production methods.

More Than 5,200 Maple Taps

The Gingerich Family Sugarbush now operates more than 5,200 taps throughout its wooded acreage. Approximately 35 miles of tubing carry sap from the trees to the sugarhouse, creating an impressive network through the woods.

Once collected, the sap is carefully boiled and transformed into rich, flavorful maple syrup. It is a time-consuming process that requires experience, patience and close attention from beginning to end.
