Kaballos Opens New Middlefield Location with Community Celebration

On July 6, Kaballos Mexican Kitchen and Bar officially celebrated the opening of its newest location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 15015 Kinsman Road (U.S. Route 87), in the former Dutch Country Restaurant building between Burton and Middlefield.

The celebration drew an enthusiastic crowd of community leaders, business owners, family, and friends, highlighting the strong local support behind Kaballos’ continued growth.

Representatives from both the Burton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Middlefield Chamber of Commerce participated in the ribbon cutting. Also attending were Middlefield Mayor Ben Garlich, Burton Mayor Ruth Spanos, Burton Area Chamber President Sue Wayman, Middlefield Chamber President Josh Miller, members of both chamber boards, and Burton Township Trustee Ken Burnett, who officially welcomed Ramón Arellano, his family, and staff to the community.

The new restaurant represents another major milestone for Arellano and his family following the devastating fire April last year that forced the closure of Kaballos’ original Middlefield restaurant. Rather than slowing down, the family continued serving customers through their popular food truck while also expanding operations.

The new location retains some of the charm of the former Kaballos. Ramón’s father has been creating beautiful hand-painted murals throughout the restaurant, adding warmth and personality to the dining experience. Behind the scenes, Ramón’s mother has been caring for the family’s children, allowing the family to focus on getting the new restaurant established.

Although the new restaurant is now open, Kaballos’ Newbury restaurant continues operating, and the Kaballos food truck remains available for festivals, community events, and catering throughout the region.

The reopening is another example of the resilience and determination that has become the Kaballos story. Following the April fire that heavily damaged the original Middlefield restaurant, Arellano quickly launched the food truck to continue serving customers while expanding plans for additional locations. The overwhelming encouragement from the community has helped fuel the family’s commitment to rebuilding and growing.

Today, that determination has come full circle with the opening of a beautiful new full-service restaurant that allows longtime customers and first-time visitors alike to enjoy the authentic Mexican cuisine Kaballos has become known for.

Kaballos Mexican Kitchen and Bar is located at 15015 Kinsman Road, Middlefield, OH 44062. The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon until 9 p.m.
