What began as one man’s search for a better battery has grown into a renewable energy company serving customers and dealers across the United States and beyond.
Located just north of Middlefield, Ohio, Millertech Energy Solutions LLC manufactures and wholesales lithium batteries and renewable energy products for residential, commercial, recreational, agricultural, and industrial applications. Its growing product line includes batteries for marine applications, RVs, golf carts, buggies, and more, along with battery chargers, solar power products, headlamps, and accessories.
Behind the products is a family-run company built on innovation, faith, and a commitment to treating people well.
From a Lumbermill to Lithium Power
Millertech’s story began with founder and inventor Lester Miller, long before there was a warehouse, showroom, or nationwide dealer network.
From 2004 to 2017, Lester worked at a logging and lumbermill operation southeast of Middlefield. Frustrated with the limitations of the lead-acid batteries being used in winch systems, he became convinced there had to be a better way to provide reliable power.
In 2015, his search led him to lithium battery technology. Lester invested $2,000 of his own money in an early lithium battery, hoping it would solve the problem. When the battery proved unsuitable for the application and couldn’t be returned, he did something that would ultimately change the course of his career: he took it apart.
Inside, he discovered individual lithium cells connected by circuitry. Intrigued by what he saw, Lester began researching the technology and eventually located a source for lithium cells in Arizona. He learned how to design and assemble circuitry and battery cells, building his early batteries inside simple plywood boxes.
At the time, starting a company wasn’t the plan. Lester simply wanted a dependable battery for the lumbermill — and another to power the lights on his buggy.
An Idea Becomes a Business
As Lester continued researching, testing, and refining his designs, he recognized the potential for lithium technology far beyond his original applications.
Millertech eventually began sourcing cells and components internationally, helping make lithium power more affordable and practical for marine, agricultural, recreational, and industrial customers throughout the United States.
Today, Millertech remains closely involved in the design and development of its batteries. Products are manufactured according to Millertech specifications, allowing the company to maintain control over quality and provide warranties of up to 10 years on many products.
While lithium batteries are now much more widely available, Millertech continues to distinguish itself through knowledgeable support and exceptional customer service. Customer service is based locally in the United States, providing customers with fast, reliable, and personalized assistance when they need it.
Growing in Middlefield
In 2023, Millertech reached another major milestone when its distribution operation moved from Lester’s home property in West Farmington to a renovated 42,000-square-foot facility north of Middlefield.
The Old State Road location includes a showroom and retail area, manufacturing and testing areas, and an extensively stocked warehouse with 30-foot-high ceilings designed to accommodate the company’s growing operation.
Millertech now employs more than 15 dedicated team members and ships products to more than 800 dealers in Plain communities across the country, in addition to locations in Canada and South America. With more than 200 packages leaving the facility each day, orders placed by 2 p.m. can typically reach dealers within just a few business days.
