Detweiler Outdoors – Trusted Marine & Outdoor Experts in Amish Country
Located in the heart of Mesopotamia (affectionately known as Mespo), Detweiler Outdoors is an Amish-owned, family-operated business with over 23 years of dedication to quality service and community values. Built on hard work, integrity, and hands-on expertise, the business has grown from humble beginnings into a trusted destination for both marine and outdoor enthusiasts.
Founder Mervin began his journey at just 18 years old working for Fireland Outboards. Through years of hands-on experience and formal training, he became a certified technician specializing in both 2-stroke and 4-stroke marine engines. Today, he holds certifications for leading brands like Suzuki and Tohatsu outboards. After acquiring Fireland Marine, the business evolved into what is now known as Detweiler Outdoors—continuing the same trusted service customers have relied on for decades.
What started as a modest 600 sq. ft. shop has expanded into a 12,000 sq. ft. facility, reflecting both growth and commitment to meeting customer needs. The retail space continues to grow, offering a wide selection of products for life on the water and in the woods.
